GFG Projects were engaged by FKG Group to complete the final two stages of the Windsor office refurbishment, revitalising approximately 800m² of the building. The project focused on modernising the space while maintaining functionality, delivering a high-quality office environment that meets the evolving needs of FKG Group’s workforce.
The first stage of the refurbishment involved significant upgrades to the building’s central atrium and lower-ground amenities. One of the standout features was the installation of a striking four-metre-high living green wall, designed to bring natural vibrancy into the space. A key element of this stage was the creation of a unique ‘floating’ room pod, engineered using structural steel that not only acted as the floor of the pod but also supported the integrity of the existing building. To enhance the overall aesthetic, the pod was finished with premium materials, including Danpal wall linings, which created a distinctive lightbox effect.
The second and final stage of the refurbishment focused on upgrading the back-of-house areas, including the office gymnasium, toilets, and meeting rooms. This stage also incorporated the addition of a new PWD-compliant toilet to improve accessibility. As the work was carried out in a live office environment, GFG Projects carefully managed access and noise constraints to minimise disruptions. Many of the construction activities were scheduled outside regular working hours, requiring ongoing communication with the office manager and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery. Due to limited laydown areas and strict access times, GFG also had to meticulously plan and coordinate programming and delivery schedules.
As with any refurbishment project, unforeseen conditions presented challenges throughout the process. In some cases, unexpected elements were uncovered behind existing plasterboard walls, necessitating quick design adjustments. GFG Projects worked closely with stakeholders to ensure responsive communication and fast-tracked approvals, allowing the team to adapt efficiently without compromising project timelines.
Through innovative design, careful planning, and seamless stakeholder coordination, GFG Projects successfully delivered a modernised and functional workspace that enhances the daily working environment for FKG Group employees.
