GFG Projects were engaged by FKG Group Developments to deliver the design and construction of a purpose-built processing facility. The project involved the delivery of a specialised industrial building designed to accommodate the tenant’s processing requirements, while providing the flexibility for the tenant’s operations to grow and evolve over time.
The new facility incorporates a warehouse designed to support processing and storage, including integrated cold rooms, freezer spaces and general warehouse areas. Supporting spaces within the building include dedicated quality control areas, staff amenities and office facilities, providing an efficient and streamlined environment for both operational and administrative functions. External works formed an important part of the project scope, with the delivery of hardstand areas, car parking, landscaping and overland stormwater management, along with all supporting infrastructure and services required for the facility to operate effectively.
Throughout the design and delivery process, close collaboration between FKG Group Developments, the tenant and the GFG Projects team ensured the facility could be tailored to the operational requirements of 5Q Drying. As part of this collaborative approach, the extent of cold room panel installation was increased to fully seal the internal corridor, creating a more suitable layout for the tenant’s production workflow and operational needs.
The project benefited from a flexible design process, allowing the project team and end-user groups to work together through a series of workshops, testing and option studies to refine the final facility design. This approach ensured that both design development and construction progressed efficiently, while maintaining a strong focus on quality outcomes and project timeframes.
Flexibility was also a key consideration in the structural, services and layout design of the building. By incorporating modular design principles and “plug and play” options within the facility, the tenant is able to adapt and expand their operations as market demands evolve, supporting long-term operational growth.
